Julia Mordvinova Gilje
Julia Mordvinova Gilje (b. 1978) is a Russian-Norwegian visual artist and illustrator based in Stavanger, Norway. Her practice explores identity, vulnerability, and the human inner life through psychologically charged portraits and experimental material use. Working across drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics and papier-mâché, she often allows the material itself to shape the work’s character and outcome.
In addition to her artistic projects, Julia also undertakes portrait commissions, bringing her psychological approach into dialogue with individual stories.
Julia is a member of the Norwegian Visual Artists Association (NBK), the regional branch NBK-R, and Norwegian Printmakers (Norske Grafikere).
She is currently participating in exhibitions at IDDIS Museum (Bibliofilia) and in the NK50 anniversary exhibition (Norske Kunsthåndverkere) and has recently been awarded an artist’s grant from the City of Stavanger.
