Mona Orstad Hansen (b. 1976) lives and works in Stavanger, Norway. Her project revolves around an examination of abstract painting. Drawing from her experience with painting she applies this knowledge in working with wood. A transitional space emerges where the painting is no longer ‘just’ a painting, but begins to shift towards sculpture and architecture.

Orstad Hansen was educated at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art (5th year student), and holds a Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours from Gray’s School of Art at the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.

Her recent solo exhibitions include Kunstnerforbundet (2025), Hå gamle Prestegard (2025) and Trondhjems Kunstforening (2021). Notable group exhibitions include Through the Seasons, featuring selected works from The Christen Sveaas’ Art Foundation, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Bærum (2025), and Håndplukket 2 at KB Contemporary, Oslo (2025). She has also participated in the Autumn Exhibition at Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo, multiple times (most recently in 2020).

Orstad Hansen has completed several public art projects, including the wall relief Forestillinger (2023) for Kongsberg VGS (Buskerud County art collection). Her works have recently been acquired by Equinor Art Programme and KORO for the new Stavanger University Hospital.
