Åse Anda’s main focus as an artist is printmaking. By working research and process-based she explores the boundaries of what can be considered printmaking.
Screen-printing as a technique has been one way to investigate color and how it affects our perception. Anda works in series, and prints go through numerous changes and has layer upon layer of color. Working in this manner appeals to her; she never has complete control and must open up for the unpredictable to happen during the work- prosess. In this way the process itself becomes a generator in her projects.
In her artistic practice she also include textiles and drawing. The same processes are visible in these works, where she challenges herself when she combines the tactile and a more precise and controlled work method. There is a fine line between not being in control and where she strives to be exact and precise. Exploring this has led her to work sculptural and to include textiles and prints as elements in her work.
Åse Anda lives and works in Stavanger. She has been part of Atelierhuset Tou, and Tou Trykk, Stavanger since 2015. She exhibits in Norway and abroad and is included in Art in Public Spaces. She is a member of NBK-R, Norske Grafikere and Tegnerforbundet.
